SG Contracting was asked by the Georgia Tech Athletic Association and Georgia Tech Facilities to act as Construction Manager for the million dollar renovation of the Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field Scoreboard and Ribbon Boards. This work consisted of the complete demolition of the existing scoreboard and ribbon boards, the relocation and addition of structural steel elements for the new scoreboard and the replacement of the existing stadium ribbon boards. The project commenced at the beginning of the summer semester and had to be completed and functioning for the first football game. SG Contracting directed a number of critical elements such as the placement of a 90 ton crane in the south end zone for the structural steel work and the assembly of the new Panasonic® LED scoreboard. In addition, SG Contracting constructed a state of the art control room to house the new electronics and computer equipment for the new board. The work was scheduled in conjunction with additional stadium upgrades that took place over the summer. The project was completed in time for the football season.
